Journalism, reporting and features
As business editor of The Journal in Newcastle I led a team of five reporters - as well as commissioning the occasional freelance journalist or business writer - breaking stories of national significance.
I was responsible for taking the newspaper's business supplement, Northern Business from a weekly to a daily publication of between 8 and 44 pages of well written and thoroughly researched copy which dominated business journalism in the North East.
It included a weekly commercial property supplement and numerous, one-off specialist supplements written on various sectors and issues. I was also responsible for the successful launch of the quarterly glossy magazine'Vision'.
As a freelance journalist, I spent two years editing North East Contact magazine and I have edited BQ2 magazine for five years. I write regular features and stories for regional and national publications on subjects ranging from business to showbusiness celebrity interviews. I also write business journalism - news and copy - for the daily morning e-news bulletin and website content bqbreakfast, which I edit.
As a journalist and freelance writer I am an all-rounder, having served my time as a general news reporter and news editor.
I specialise, however, as a writer in business, travel, showbusiness and general features. I have extensive contacts, always meet deadlines and can write to any style for any publication. I am happy working as part of a team or on my own and in the traditional print medium or for online and web-based publications.
